Welcome to this year’s Caroline Boyd Memorial Walk/Run. After the success of the inaugural event in November 2017 where over 400 people participated, many people asked if we would do the event again. And so, this year, we offer a similar set of activities - a 10km run, and a 5.5 km walk or run on the same course.
All are welcome to participate in this event which celebrates the life of Caroline Boyd, a resident of both Wellington and Paekakariki, who was tragically killed in an accident on Wellington Road, Paekakariki on 19th March 2017. Caroline Boyd ran almost everyday of her life from the age of 15, and participated regularly in 10km and half-marathon events. She also ran the Auckland and London Marathons. This course follows the run that Caroline used to do through Queen Elizabeth Park.

As a special way of remembering Caroline, who once turned up to an interview with non-matching shoes, we ask that you wear odd socks for the occasion (even the serious runners!). Participants may also want to form themed teams and dress up for the occasion (e.g. civil servants, sports teams, pop groups).

Last year $3000 was donated to the Paekakariki School to pay for extra curricular activities. This year, the fund stands at just over $45,000 and we aim to build the fund to $75,000 which means it can be established in perpetuity. Once again this year, the family will contribute $1 for every $1 raised through this event.
