This is an event to celebrate and remember the life of Caroline Boyd, who was killed in a tragic accident in Wellington Road, Paeakakariki on the 19th of March, 2017. We wish to keep her memory alive by holding a special event in Paekakariki, giving people a day's outing to do either a 5.5km run or walk, or walk with your dog or a 10km run. This will be a fundraiser to go towards the Caroline Boyd Memorial fund, for the advancement of women, youth and local community.

All are welcome to participate in this one-off event to celebrate the life of a resident of both Paekakariki and Wellington. Caroline Boyd ran almost everyday of her life from the age of 15, and participated regularly in 10km and half-marathon events. She also ran the Auckland and London Marathons. This course follows the run that Caroline used to do through Queen Elizabeth Park.

Just want to make a donation...see details at the bottom of the page.

All entries must be made through (you will need to register your name on this system) and are available up to an hour before the event. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

All proceeds will go to the Caroline Boyd Memorial Fund which is an endowment fund under the registered charity, the Nikau Foundation. The fund will seek advancement of initiatives close to Caroline's heart:
-Youth - supporting young people, in particular their educational needs
-Women - addressing issues affecting women
-Local Community - supporting local community networks and activities

The funds will be dispersed to the Paekakariki and Wellington communities in 2018. The family will be putting $1 in for every $1 raised through this event.

All entrants must display their registration number which can go into a prize draw for spot prizes at the end of the event. Registration numbers can be picked up from 9:00am on the day.

Participants have the option to form themed teams and dress up for the occasion (e.g. civil servants, sports teams, pop groups). One theme is an odd socks theme - reflecting the time that Caroline turned up to an interview with non-matching shoes.

Trains run every half hour from 7:14am from Wellington and the trip takes 45 minutes. There is a 10 minute walk from the station to the start of the event.

The runners and walkers start at 10:30am on the beach (at low tide) outside the Memorial Hall on The Parade in Paekakariki. Walkers with their dogs will start at 10:40am from the same location. All dogs must be kept on a leash and leave no mess.

St John Ambulance will be on hand at the beginning and end of the event.

Participation certificates will be issued at the end of the event. No results or times will be posted.

Each entrant will have a unique 3 digit number: the 5.5km walk and run is BLACK, and the 10km run is RED.

After the event, there will be prizedraws and food available for purchase at Paekakariki school on Wellington Rd. Spot prizes will be drawn randomly from the race numbers at the school at 12:30pm. Between 12:45pm and 1pm there will be a ceremony with Waiata and speeches with Caroline Boyd's family and the kapahaka group beside the memorial garden in the school grounds. Memorial booklets will also be available.
