Over view of the weekend is: Friday 26 October Arrive in Marlborough, if arriving in the afternoon/evening Ray will pick you up from either the Picton Ferry Terminal or Marlborough Airport and deliver you to your accommodation.
Saturday 27 October Start mid-morning with a trip to Pelorus Bridge for a short scenic walk before lunch on the grass or the river bank. After lunch we will tackle the ‘K Trig’ track that the DOC website proclaims “Superb views of the surrounding countryside reward those who climb to Trig K.”. Afterwards you will be returned to your accommodation to recuperate prior to dinner at a local eatery.
Sunday 28 October An earlier start to the day is scheduled to head inland to Nelson Lakes where we will conduct a moderate walk prior to having lunch on the edge of Lake Rotoiti. After lunch we will then conduct another walk. Be prepared for amazing views.
Monday 29 October Once again starting early but we don’t have far to travel prior to walking through the historic and scenic Wairau Lagoon. After lunch at a local café you will then be dropped back at either the Ferry Terminal or the Airport.
Accommodation Although we don’t have any accommodation options organised for 2012, we can recommend the Pheonix Motor Inn in Springlands. It has nice modern facilities and we can easily pick you up from this location and it is handy to Supermarkets and other amenities. http://www.phoenixmotorinn.co.nz/
Meals It is expected that you will bring your own snacks and water for the walks and also lunch on Saturday & Sunday, as there will be limited options for purchasing healthy lunches at these locations.
Summary Walk Marlborough is a healthy exercise experience utilising the scenic wonders found around Marlborough to challenge participants without being unachievable. Support staff will be on hand to guide the walks and provide assistance if required.
