  EVENT :: THE CAMBRIDGE TO HAMILTON BOAT RACE AND CRUISE
The Cambridge to Hamilton Boat Race and Cruise is an iconic Hamilton event, situated on the beautiful Waikato River. This event is open to both serious and recreational paddlers alike. The boat race a cruise is open to all types and classes of boats, from Stand up Paddleboards to Wakas and involves paddling a distance of 23km from Cambridge to Hamilton. For those under 18 years or choosing to enter as a cruiser, there is also the option of entering the 11km half from the narrows landing.

The Cambridge to Hamilton Boat Race and Cruise is an iconic Hamilton event, situated on the beautiful Waikato River. This event is open to both serious and recreational paddlers alike and is a great way to become a part of the Waikato River Festival. The boat race a cruise is open to all types and classes of boats, from Stand up Paddleboards to Wakas. the event involves paddling the full 23km from the cambridge riverside reserve boat ramp to the Waikato Sports Fishing Club/ Hamilton city Hawks Club rooms. For those under 18 years or choosing to enter as a cruiser there is also the added option of doing a shorter distance of 11km from the narrows landing . So come along to what always is a great day and make yourself a part of the Waikato river festival.

Event location:

The Waikato River - The race starts from the Cambridge Riverside reserve on Domain Avenue opposite the low level bridge in Cambridge.For those entered in the shorter 11km (half) event, the race starts at 12.30pm from Acacia Reserve on the left bank of the Waikato River just past the narrows bridge at Tamahere.

The finish line for both events is the beach at the Waikato Sports Fishing Club/ Hamilton city Hawks Club rooms, which is situated on Grantham Street, Hamilton on the left side of the river.

Racing Divisions consist of the following:

K1, K2, Multisport - Single, Adventure Race Double, Sea Kayak Single - Plastic, Sea Kayak Single - Composite, Sea Kayak - Double, Waka - Single, Waka - Two or more Person, Canoe, Surf Ski - Single, Surf Ski - Double, Sit on Top , Stand up Paddleboard, 3m plastic sit on top, 3m-4m plastic sit on top, and 4m+ plastic sit on top.

Race categories consist of the following:

- Under 18 Years
- Over 18 Years
- Cruiser
- Under 18 Years (11km Half)
- Cruiser (11km Half)

Entry costs:

23km
For competitors Under 18 years entries cost$35 (Per Participant). For competitors Over 18 year’s entries cost d $60 (Per Participant). For those entering the cruiser division entries cost $50 (Per person). Early bird Specials are available befor the 20th of July.

11km
For competitors Under 18 years entries cost$25 (Per Participant). For competitors entering as a cruiser entries are $40 (Per Partisipant).

Special Rules: • Approved buoyancy aids MUST BE WORN on the water and positive buoyancy devices installed in all craft.
• Stickers are to be displayed on the left hand side of the craft, somewhere easily visible to safety boats and officials.
• If a competitor pulls out, they must inform the nearest marshal as soon as possible. Rescue craft will be available but competitors are expected to assist others when required and apply for time compensation from the officials.
